As many of our dogs have had to undergo training or rehabilitation our Adoption policy is strictly adhered to.
We are not a business and survive solely on public donations, fund raising and business support, therefore we ask for a non refundable minimum donation of £150.
This minimum donation does not even cover the costs of many of the dogs being adopted. Any money given over and above this goes towards helping other animals in our care.
We can only advise on the temperament of any dog while it is in our care, although to the best of our ability all our dogs are given health and behavioural assessments before they are offered for rehoming
However once a dog has settled into a new home his or her behaviour can sometimes change. We cannot guarantee how dogs in our care will interact with children or other family pets. Therefore we cannot guarantee the health or behaviour, of any dog rehomed through LRDR, nor can we be held liable for any damage to property or personal injuries incurred
We offer ongoing support for anyone experiencing behavioural difficulties with their pet after rehoming.
.
We expect new owners to give the dog a reasonable amount of time to settle and adjust to a new life, however if an incompatibility arises the dog MUST be returned to Last Resort Dog Rescue.
It is LRDR policy that all animals rehomed should be vaccinated as appropriate.
It is the LRDR policy that all dogs, will be neutered or spayed before rehoming, unless there are prohibitive reasons (for example, age or health conditions).
In the rare cases where this cannot take place before adoption you will be required to provide LRDR with proof that this has been done at a later date, unless vetinary evidence shows it to be detrimental to the dogs health for this to be carried out.
It is LRDR policy that dogs rehomed from LRDR should be identified by an implanted microchip. This microchip will remain registered to LRDR for the lifetime of the dog.
Owners are required to notify LRDR if the dog strays, or is stolen.
This is in addition to the legal requirement that a dog must wear an identity disc.
All pedigree and registration certificates are retained by LRDR, and NOT passed on to new owners
Once rehomed, a dog remains the ultimate property of LRDR, and will be removed and returned to us if any dog or bitch is found to have been used for breeding purposes, and any puppies produced from a bitch will be considered the property of LRDR
Once rehomed, a dog remains the ultimate property of LRDR, and will be removed and returned to us if the dog is passed on to a third person, or another animal rescue, for whatever reason. LRDR will take legal action if a dog is subsequently rehomed in this way and will recover the dog and all costs involved.
Once rehomed, a dog remains the ultimate property of LRDR, and will be removed and returned to us if the new owners fail to seek qualified veterinary care should the dog become ill or injured.
LRDR will support any subsequent prosecution if a dog is neglected or abused whilst in your care.
All adopters will be required to sign an agreement to the above and to any other conditions stipulated by LRDR and contained within said agreement.
Both the signed adoption form and the minimum donation MUST be received before any dog may be collected from an LRDR representative.
