Last Resort Dog Rescue was born, when a group of friends and professionals spent time talking and realised that after dealing with many rescues over the years, that the main aim of existing rescues is to re-home dogs, but most are unable to provide ongoing help and advice for either existing or new owners. Many also do not have the time or resources available to deal with dogs, which present real or percieved behavioural problems.
The fullfilling of this gap within the world of dog rescue is the main focus of our work and we always aim to prevent the breakdown of the relationship between dogs and their families. If this relationship does break down we ensure that the behavioral and pastoral needs of our dogs is our prime consideration when re-homing.
We accept surrenders from individuals and from other rescues and organisations, especially focusing on those dogs with real or perceived behavioral problems. Although in common with most other rescues we would never turn a dog away if we are in a position to help.
We aim to educate owners to get the best out of their dogs and are available to give talks on caring for your dog to small groups or individuals.
We are entirely self-funding at the moment and rely upon public donations, private donations and fundraising. All those who work within LRDR are volunteers, and we are always actively recruiting volunteers and seeking donations.
Dog related emergencies are dealt with 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
We would ask however that unless it is a dog related emergency you call only between 10am and 6pm.
