www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cornwall-14599368Something we have been saying at LRDR for a long time. Having been with frostymable to speak to a local school about safety around dogs and seeing how interested the children were and how much they took on board, I think all schools should consider educating kids on this subject.

Both quotes are taken directly from the article. I agree, but this is very badly written, yet again Bull breeds crosses aren't neccessarily large?! Candie weighs approx 12kg, about a third of the weight of a lab and around a quarter of the height. And aren't Staffordshire crosses and bull terriers pretty much one and the same? I do, however, agree with the idea of educating kids how to behave around dogs from an early age. OH and I did a tour of 10 local primary schools a few years ago, making it clear on each occasion that there'd be at least one bull breed with us when we visited. We had no negative comments at all Zebo was invited to the kids' playtime and offered his paw for so many crisps it was unbelievable. We had umpteen kids make excuses to come to the staffroom afterward, just to make a fuss of the dogs. I also had a bit of a row with one teacher whose pupil had been excluded from assemblies for a while. I'd promised the kid he could hold Zebo's lead but the teacher wanted him back. I won ( ;D - a promise is a promise) and the child even apologised profusely when Zebo pulled me flat on my face on a newly buffed corridor to find his dad. It was all really, really positve and yes; education like like should be spread far wider.

@laadyholly I am sure we did read it somewhere, but can't remember where. Splottlands I agree it's badly written, but most BBC articles are whe it concerns dogs...often very biased reporting. Still at least they did report it. and hopefully more people will agree with it that education at an early level is needed. It's scarey the amount of children that don't even know how to approach and greet a dog, bullbreed or other.
